Box Score Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated the University of Maine at Farmington 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference semifinal action at Husson's Winkin Complex. Caroline Bochtler (Sr., Turner, ME) recorded a hat trick on the Eagle win, scoring two of her three goals off corners. With the loss, U. Maine at Farmington ends their season at 12-6 while Husson 9-5 advances to the NAC championship game.
Husson reached the scoreboard at 12:49 in the first half when Sabrina Vaillancourt (Fy., Newport, ME) scored off an assist by Lorri Hiltz (Jr., Norridgewock, ME). With just under a minute left in the first half, Caroline Bochtler (Sr., Turner, ME) received a loose ball at the top of the right circle, settled it, and hit a low line-drive that ricocheted off goalkeeper, Sarah Brown (Sr., Windham, ME) and in the goal. The second half ended with a 2-0 Husson lead.
Bochtler struck again fifty seconds into the second half when she received a back-pass from Helen Berry (Belfast, ME) off a corner. Bochtler took one touch and riffled the ball into the back of the cage to push the score to 3-0. Five minutes later, Hiltz scored an unassisted goal. Bochtler rounded out her hat trick when she hit another booming shot off a seemingly carbon copy corner that was assisted by Berry. The game ended with a 5-0 Husson victory.
The Beavers and Eagles both recorded nineteen shots on the day, while U. Maine at Farmington was awarded six corners to Husson's four.
In goal, Sarah Brown recorded nine saves for the Beavers. Kristen Capen tallied ten saves on the day for the Eagles.
Husson will advance to play the winner of St. Joseph's and Castleton on Saturday, November 6.
