Eagles Cruise to 6-0 Win

Box Score

The Husson University Eagles extended their winning streak to five games with a 6-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over the Lasell College Lasers.  Five different Eagles contributed goals to lift Husson's record to 7-4 (5-1 NAC).  With the loss, Lasell falls to 5-10 (0-6 NAC).

The Eagles reached the scoreboard sixteen minutes into the first half when Sabrina Vaillancourt (Fy., Newport, ME) received an assist from Courtney Allen (Sr., Gardiner, ME) at the top of the circle and tucked away the goal.  Ten minutes later, Allen would provide another assist off a short corner to Helen Berry (Sr., Belfast, ME).  Berry's goal pushed the Husson lead to 2-0.  Following numerous big saves by Lasell keeper, Christine Thornton (Jr., Canton, MA), Kait Dingley-Jade (So., Lisbon, ME) collected a rebound from an Emily Woodbury (Jr., Burnham, ME) shot and put the ball in the back of the net.  Allen rounded out the first half by collecting a rebound off her own shot and scoring to push the Eagle lead to 4-0.

On the half, Husson outshot Lasell 25-5 and had ten corners to Lasell's one.  Lasell's Thornton tallied eleven saves.

Vaillancourt collected her second goal of the day in the second half when she hammered a loose ball into the net.  Husson rounded out their scoring effort when Dingley-Jade made a centering pass from the Husson endline to Lorri Hiltz (Jr., Norridgewock, ME).  Hiltz ran onto the ball at the top of the circle and scored.

Lasell fought back in the second half, recording five shots on goal and five short corners.  Keeper Thornton tallied eighteen saves for the Lasers.  Husson's Kristen Capen (So., Leeds, ME) recorded three saves on the win.

Head Coach Katie Flaherty summed up the Eagles' effort saying, "I'm extremely proud of my team and how they are coming together.  We are clicking at the right time and hope to carry our momentum to the end of the season"

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 20 when they host Bowdoin for a 7:00 PM game.  Lasell travels to Anna Maris on October 20 for a 4:00 PM game.
