Box Score The Husson University Eagles extended their winning streak to
five games with a 6-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over the
Lasell College Lasers. Five different Eagles contributed
goals to lift Husson's record to 7-4 (5-1 NAC). With
the loss, Lasell falls to 5-10 (0-6 NAC).
The Eagles reached the scoreboard sixteen minutes into the first
half when Sabrina Vaillancourt (Fy., Newport, ME) received an
assist from Courtney Allen (Sr., Gardiner, ME) at the top of the
circle and tucked away the goal. Ten minutes later, Allen
would provide another assist off a short corner to Helen Berry
(Sr., Belfast, ME). Berry's goal pushed the Husson lead
to 2-0. Following numerous big saves by Lasell keeper,
Christine Thornton (Jr., Canton, MA), Kait Dingley-Jade (So.,
Lisbon, ME) collected a rebound from an Emily Woodbury (Jr.,
Burnham, ME) shot and put the ball in the back of the net.
Allen rounded out the first half by collecting a rebound off her
own shot and scoring to push the Eagle lead to 4-0.
On the half, Husson outshot Lasell 25-5 and had ten corners to
Lasell's one. Lasell's Thornton tallied eleven
saves.
Vaillancourt collected her second goal of the day in the second
half when she hammered a loose ball into the net. Husson
rounded out their scoring effort when Dingley-Jade made a centering
pass from the Husson endline to Lorri Hiltz (Jr., Norridgewock,
ME). Hiltz ran onto the ball at the top of the circle and
scored.
Lasell fought back in the second half, recording five shots on
goal and five short corners. Keeper Thornton tallied eighteen
saves for the Lasers. Husson's Kristen Capen (So.,
Leeds, ME) recorded three saves on the win.
Head Coach Katie Flaherty summed up the Eagles' effort
saying, "I'm extremely proud of my team and how they
are coming together. We are clicking at the right time and
hope to carry our momentum to the end of the season"
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 20 when they
host Bowdoin for a 7:00 PM game. Lasell travels to Anna Maris
on October 20 for a 4:00 PM game.
