In a hard fought win, the Husson University Eagles bested the University of Southern Maine Huskies 77-68.  With the win, Husson improves to 5-3 and head coach Warren Caruso comes within one win of the 300 win milestone.  The Huskies fall to 2-10 on the loss. 

Husson's Brock Bradford (Sr.,Kenduskeag, ME) got on the board first scoring an easy layup.  Bradford and Southern Maine's Cortez Isaac (Jr., Washington, DC) dueled throughout the contest.  With a reverse layup, Bradford put Husson up by two at 20-18 and immediately hit another two point shot.  Isaac hit his tenth point of the night to bring the Huskies within two of Husson followed by another deuce to make the score 25-22 with Husson in the lead.  Isaac hit a jump shot with seconds left in the half, regaining the lead for the Huskies at 35-36.

Brock Bradford scored 8 points in the first four minutes of the second half.  The Eagles and Huskies battled for the lead throughout the half.  Husson's Josh Jones (So., Jefferson, ME) put up a jumper to give Husson a 10 point lead with four minutes left in the half.  USM's Leif O'Connell (So., Hodgdon, ME) drove to the basket with a layup to bring the Huskies within 5 points with 1:22 left on the clock at 70-65.  Husky Otis Smith (Jr., Altamonte Springs, FL) hit a shot from the lane with 35.3 seconds on the clock to bring the score to 72-67.  With 21.3 seconds left on the clock, Bradford hit both of his fouls shots to make the score 74-67 and USM's Isaac hit one of two foul shots.   Bradford hit his last foul shots with 4.5 seconds left in the game for the 77-68 Husson victory.

Husson's Bradford recorded 29 points, shooting 13-31 from the floor and making 6-7 free throws.  First year student Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, ME) had a breakout performance with 15 points followed by Matt Mackenzie (Sr., Warren, ME) with 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Southern Maine's Cortez Isaac collected 27 points and 8 rebounds on the losing effort.  Husky Otis Smith tallied 15 poitns and 6 rebounds.

Husson returns to action on January 7 at Colby College.  Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
