Bangor, ME - The Husson Eagles eased by the Lyndon State College
Hornets 112-83. With the 112 point win, the Eagles set new
school record for most points scored in a game (surpassing the 109
point record against Maine Machias). With the win, Husson
remains undefeated 6-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play and
improves to 10-8 overall. Lyndon state falls to 2-6 in the
conference and 7-9 on the season.
Naomi White (So., Danville, VT) got the hornets on the board
first making one of two foul shots. Husson's Bethany Sevey
(Jr., Skowhegan, ME) immediately answered with a three-point shot
to make the score 3-1 Husson. Donna Lawson (Fy., Irasburg,
VT) of Lyndon State hit both foul shots to bring the Hornets within
one of the Eagles at 8-7 but Sevey again answered with another
three to make the score 11-7. Husson continued to pull away
from Lyndon State ending the half at 57-36.
The lead proved insurmountable for the Hornets but Donna Lawson
(Fy., Irasburg, VT) led Lyndon state with a double-double
consisting of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Lawson was followed
by Abby Fadden (Fy., North Haverhill, NH) who collected 19 points.
Husson was led by Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) with 21 points,
5 assists and 4 rebounds. Bri Hanscom collected a
double-double consisting of 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2
steals. Bethany Sevey shot 5-11 from the three point line and
recorded 19 points on the win. Sophomore Marissa Albert (Fort
Kent, ME) made key contributions off the bench notching 16 points
while shooting 10-15 from the floor.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Feburay 2 at home
against U. Maine Farmington. Game time is set for 5:30.
Lyndon State plays Green Mountain College on Feburary 2.
