Eagles Breeze By Badgers

Bangor, ME -  The Husson University Eagles breezed by the Johnson State Badgers to claim a 80-58 win.  With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-8 (6-0 conf.) while the Badgers fall to 6-11 (3-3 conf.).  With the win, the Eagles remain undefeated in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

Bree Hanscom (So., Mattawamkeag, ME) got the Eagles on the board first with a quick deuce.  The Eagles and Badgers traded baskets with Husson pulling ahead to 15-8 after Amanda Gifford (So., Lee, ME) made a driving layup.  The Eagles went on a 13 point unanswered scoring run that was ended by Johnson State's Maria Gleason (FY., Enosburg, VT) to make the score 26-10.  Noell Lincoln (Jr., Dixmont, ME) immeadiately answered with a three-pointer.  Gleason responding by hitting a deuce to cut Husson's lead to 10 at 29-19.  Gleason hit a driving layup to bring the Badgers to within 8 of the Eagles at 29-21.  The Eagles pulled away to end the first half with a 45-28 lead.

In the first half, Husson was led by Shelby Bradford's (Sr., Lee, ME) 15 points and Bree Hanscom's (So., Mattawamkeag, ME) 8 points.   Maria Gleason led the Badgers with 10 points shooting 4-4 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line. 

Bethany Sevey (Jr., Skowhegan, ME) put the Eagles on the board first in the first half with a jumper to make the score 47-28.  Kelli Murray hit a deep three to bring Husson's score to 61-35.  The Eagles continued to pull away from the Badgers, ending the game at 80-58. 

Johnson State's Maria Gleason paced the Badgers, collecting 20 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 9-13 from the floor and 4-4 from the free throw line.  Jennifer Ferrari (Fy., Westfield, MA)notched 12 points and three rebounds.

Husson's Shelby Bradford tallied 23 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 7-8 from the floor and 9-10 from the free-throw line.  Bri Hanscom contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, while Amanda Gifford tallied 11 points.

The Eagles return to home action tomorrow at 4:00 against Lyndon State while the Badgers play against Maine Maritime at 4:00.
