FARMINGTON, Maine -- Husson University scored 31 points off
turnovers to take down the University of Maine at Farmington 76-67
in North Atlantic Conference women's basketball action tonight at
Dearborn Gymnasium. Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) broke
Husson's single game rebounding record (for Husson's Division III
era) last night with 22 boards.
The Eagles (6-8, 3-0) are slated to visit Castleton State
College Saturday and Green Mountain College Sunday.
Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) led Farmington with 16 points,
while Kenni Norton (Strong, ME) provided 16 points and nine
rebounds. Ashley Busque (Belgrade, ME) and Emma Morrison (Saco, ME)
tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Shelby Bradford powered Husson with 21 points and 22 rebounds with
Brianna Hanscom (Mattawamkeag, ME) contributing 12 points and Kelli
Murray (Shawmut, ME) popping in 11 points off the bench.
Bradford (14 points, 16 rebounds) and Laflin (13 points) swung the
action back and forth in the first half with the Beavers taking a
37-34 lead into intermission.
The Eagles soared out of halftime with a 15-4 run over the first
6:46 of the second half to take a 49-41 lead. A three-point play by
Bradford pushed the lead to double digits at 62-52 with 6:08
remaining.
The Beavers were able to get to within seven points on a Morrison
3-pointer with 2:39 to play, but Hanscom hit two foul shots and
Murray drained a three for the 76-67 victory.
