Box Score Fort Kent, ME -The University of Maine at Fort
Kent upset the visiting Husson University Eagles 3-1 Thursday
afternoon on Alumni Memorial Field in Fort Kent. UMFK was
able to contain the 2008 NAC Champions for their first win of the
season and recording their first win in school history over
Husson.
Leading the way for UMFK was the returning forward, sophomore
Whitney Sinclair (Dexter, ME) scoring the game's first two
goals. The first came at the 37th minute and her
second came at the 54th minute both unassisted.
The Eagles were able to cut the Lady Bengal lead to 2-1 on a Shelby
Bradford (Lee, ME) goal in the 84th minute on an assist
from Megan Lejoie.
Freshmen Theresa Biggs (Cape Town, South Africa) added an
insurance goal for UMFK on a breakaway in the 88th
minute to close the scoring.
Junior goalkeeper Mindy Morneault (Eagle Lake, ME) turned in 12
saves including a handful of point blank stops on Bradford and the
Husson offense. Rozleyn Peterson saved 1 of 4 UMFK
shots on goal for the Eagles.
The Eagles outshot UMFK 20-7 with a 12-4 advantage on
goal. Husson drops to 1-1 on the season while U. Maine Fort
Kent is now 1-0.
The Eagles will host the Women's Soccer Classic this
weekend. Husson plays Mt. Saint Mary (NY) at 1:15 on
Saturday, September 5 and Keene State on Sunday, September 6 at
12:15.
