Box Score STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's improved to 3-2-1 overall with a
3-1 victory over Husson University (1-3) on Sunday afternoon at
Westerlea Way Field. Doug MacCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) scored two
goals and Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made eight saves in the SJC
triumph.
Opening the game scoring for the Monks was Paul Robins '11
(Cornwall, England), who lofted a rainbow kick from near midfield
over the head of Husson keeper Miguel Dominguez '11 (Rome, GA) in
the 16th minute.
The 1-0 edge stood until the 66th minute when MacCallum scored
his first marker of the match. The play was set up perfectly by Tim
Davison '12 (Danvers, MA) on a free kick and was finished with a
header by the senior striker.
The Monks extended their lead to three goals thirteen minutes
later when Joe Happnie '11 (Rockland, MA), with a flawless lead
pass, set up MacCallum for his second tally of the game and fifth
of the season.
The Eagles mustered their only offense of the day when Mark
Trombley '10 (Burnham, ME) converted a penalty kick after the Monks
committed a hand ball foul.
Husson, led by 8 attempts from Trombley, outshot St. Joe's,
17-13, and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks in the loss.
Saint Joseph's will play host to GNAC rival Albertus Magnus
College on Saturday, September 19th at 3:30 PM while Husson is set
to host Maine-Machias on Wednesday at 1:30 PM.
