Bangor, Maine - Husson cruised past Maine Maritime Academy 71-49
in a NAC contest at Newman Gym. Four Eagles scored in double
figures led by Matt MacKenzie (Jr, Warren, ME) 15 points and 10
rebounds.
The Eagles jumped out to a 15-4 lead through the first 5 minutes
and never trailed. Husson built the lead to as many as 15 in
the first half before leading 34-21 at the half. Husson shot
50% from the floor in the first half compared to Maine Maritime's
25%.
Husson opened the game up early in the second half with a 17-4
run making it 53-30 with 11:41 to play. MacKenzie capped off
the run with a transition lay-up. Brock Bradford (Jr,
Kenduskeag, ME) finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Nick
Perras and Jay Urhin both finished with 11 points apiece.
Maine Maritime was paced by Derek DiFrederico (Sr, Millinocket,
ME) and Jake Manner (Sr, Frankfort, ME) both had 11 points.
Maine Maritime is now 7-14 (3-7 NAC).
Husson out rebounded Maine Maritime 42-30 and finished the night
shooting 45.2%. The Eagles are now 11-10 (8-2 NAC) and have
won 6 out of their last 7.
Both teams next play on Friday, February 13th at 6:00
pm. Husson host Johnson State while Maine Maritime will host
Lyndon State.
