Box Score Bangor, ME - The Husson University Eagles cruised to a 5-0 win
over the St. Joseph's College Monks. Shelby Bradford (Sr.,
Lee, ME) and Katelyn Coultier (So., Groventown, NH) each
contributed a pair of goals in the Eagle victory. With two
goals and two assists on the day, Bradford played a part in four of
the five Eagle goals. Husson improves to 9-3 on the season
and St. Joseph's falls to 5-3-1.
The Eagles started their scoring campaign early in the first
half with a Katelyn Coultier goal. Coultier ran onto a
Bradford through ball, dribbled into the box and beat Monks
goalkeeper, Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME), as she slid off her
line. Kylan Smith (Sr., Presque Isle, ME) scored the second
goal of the game off a loose ball in the goal box following a Meg
Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME) assist. The Eagles outshot
the Monks 15 to 6 in the first half.
St. Joseph's goalkeeper, Mayo, began the second half with a big
save sliding off her line and smothering a Bradford shot.
The Monks could not hold off the Eagles as Bradford scored
twelve minutes into the second half. The goal was the result
of a cheeky assist from Meg Clement. With her back to the St.
Joseph's goal, Clement flicked a pass over her head to a waiting
Shelby Bradford who ran onto the ball, beat a defender, and scored
on a low shot. Bradford provided another assist to Katelyn
Coultier midway through the second half. To cap off the
Eagles scoring, Bradford earned an unassisted corner kick goal,
hitting the Monks' side netting.
Monks goalkeeper, Katye Mayo notched 9 saves and faced 23 shots
while Eagles goalkeeper Jen Plourde (Sr. Howland, ME) made 8 saves
on 12 shots. Husson's Caitlyn Butterfield (Jr., Gorham, ME)
contributed solid defensive play.
Husson returns to action on October 10 at Green Mountain
College. Game time is set for 1:00.
