Box Score Castine, Maine - The Husson Eagles won a hard fought contest,
winning 2-1 in double overtime to the Maine Maritime Mariniers on
Friday night in a North Atlantic Conference match-up. Sophomore
Edwin Acosta (Honduras) scored off of a deflection by the MMA
keeper in the 108th minute to give the Eagles the victory.
The Mariners started the scoring in the 23rd minute when
Abdullah Alkhayyat (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) split two Husson
defenders and scored an unassisted goal to give MMA the 1-0
lead.
The Eagles knotted the score at 1-1 in the 68th minute
when Mark Trombley (Burnham, ME) blasted a shot from 20-yards out
past MMA goalie Jeff Butland (Cumberland, ME). The goal was
unassisted but set up by quick transition from a Maine Maritime
turnover at midfield. Husson controlled play for the next
22-minutes but failed to get the game winner and the contest went
to overtime.
With six minutes left in the second overtime, MMA striker Nate
Tipton (West Chester, PA), had MMA's best scoring chance, but
flicked the ball over the open net keeping the score tied at 1-1.

set up a direct kick for Husson, which eventually resulted in the

it and tuck it into the back of the net for the game winner.

1 save on the evening. MMA keeper Jeff Butland took the loss for
MMA making 9 saves on 31 shots. MMA drops to 5-3-1 overall and
