Husson Volleyball Splits 1-1

Box Score

 Husson University fell to Worchester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and won against Eastern Nazerene.  The Eagles lost to WPI in three straight games (25-11, 25-19, and 25-16).  The Engineers offense was led by Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, NY) recording nine aces and two kills, while Belinda Nwagbara (Santa Rosa, CA) combined four aces with eight kills.  The Engineers would combine for a total of 26 kills and 29 aces, as the Eagles finished with 13 kills and 2 aces.

Husson took the final contest of the tri-match, 3-2, beating Eastern Nazarene in a back and forth match consisting of fifteen ties and six lead changes.  The match was close as the two teams traded wins with Eastern Nazarene winning the first and third games, 25-11 and 25-19, and Husson the second and fourth games, 25-13 and 25-20.  Husson won the fifth and deciding game as they took a lead and kept it to earn the 25-7 win and match victory. 

At the decisive point in the fourth match, with the score tied at 16-16, the Eagles rallied on a 9-4 run to pull out the 25-20 win.

 Husson's Maya Vsyokikh (Novoskbirks, Russia) had nine kills, and both Athena Beaulieu (Gorham, ME) and Kaitlyn McKay (Lincoln, RI) had eight kills.  Eastern Nazarene's Laura Giberson (Hingham, MA), Amber Burns (Fall River, MA), and Kaitlyn Yoder (Smithsburg, MD) all recorded eight kills of their own in the match.
