Bradford Hat Trick Lifts Eagles over Badgers 4-1

Box Score

Bangor, ME - Husson University's Shelby Bradford scored a first half hat trick in the Eagles' 4-1 win over Johnson State.  Bradford's trio of goals elevated her season tally to 13.  With the win, Husson improves to 12-4 (5-1conf.) and Johnson State falls to 6-6-1 (1-3-1 conf.).

The Eagles scored early in the first half when Katelyn Butterfield (Jr., Gorham, ME) passed a through ball to Shelby Bradford.  Bradford beat her defender, dribbled into the box and scored on a low side netting shot.  Midway through the second half, Bradford notched her second goal off of a give-and-go.  Bradford passed to Alex Laniewski (So., Scarborough, ME) who passed back to Bradford.  She took a touch on the ball and fired a close range goal to up the score 2-0.  Six minutes later, Husson's Katie McLaughlin (So., Winslow, ME) collected a loose ball in the goal box and tipped it to Amanda Gifford (So., Lee, ME) who scored the third Eagle goal of the game.

Bradford earned her hat trick off a beautiful and unassisted forty-yard shot that struck the top shelf of the Badger goal.  The final Eagle goal of the game came when Katie McLaughlin served a pass in the air to a waiting Amy Sanz (Sr., Tyngsboro, MA).  Sanz volleyed the ball out of the air and into the Badger net for the Eagles' fifth and final goal of the game.

With two minutes left on the clock, Johnson State goalkeeper, Morgan Soloman (Fr., Cavendish, VT), made an excellent save by coming off her line to shut down a Husson break-away.  Soloman recorded four saves on 15 Husson shots in the half.

Johnson State's Ally Bataille (Fr., Waterbury, VT) scored a goal eleven minutes into the second half.  Jacqueline Poutre (Sr., Underhill, VT) dribbled the ball to the eighteen-yard box and passed the ball across the top of the box to Bataille.  Bataille ripped an upper shelf goal for the Badgers' score of the game.
