Box Score Bangor, ME - The Husson University Eagles soccer beat the Lyndon
State Hornets 2-0 in a conference match-up on Husson's
Homecoming Weekend. With the win, the Eagles remain atop the
North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rankings and improve to 6-8-2
(3-0-2 conf.) Lyndon State falls to 3-9-3 (0-4-1 conf).
Edwin Acosta, (So., Honduras) scored the first Eagle goal of the
game with 4:53 on the clock in the first half. From 50 yards
out, Acosta lofted a ball across the box past outstretched Lyndon
state keeper, Ian Oliver (Sr., Westport, MA), for the goal
Husson's second goal of the game came with just seven minutes
left in the first half. Mark Trombley (Sr., Burnham, ME)
played a give-and-go ball to Tyler Metevier (So., Kittery,
ME). After recovering the ball, Trombley sent a cross to John
DeStefano (Fy., Auburn, NH) who skimmed a head ball into the
Hornets' net.
Throughout the second half, Hornets goalkeeper Jason Gray (Fr.,
East Thetford, VT) was quick to come off his line off his line to
shut down one-on-one Eagle scoring opportunities. On
the game, Husson outshot Lyndon State 24-11. Lyndon State
keepers made 10 save while Husson's Mason Smith (Fy., Houma, LA)
notched 5 saves.
The Eagles return to conference action tomorrow, October 18,
with a home game against Johnson State at 3:00. Lyndon
State's next game is at Maine Maritime at 2:00.
