Farmington Holds Off Eagles

Bangor, Maine – The U. Maine Farmington remained undefeated in NAC play by capturing a 76-70 win over Husson University. Ashley Busque (So, Belgrade, ME) led the way with a game high 20 points.

The Beavers held a 68-67 advantage with 1:54 left in the game, when Caitlyn Laflin (Jr, Farmington, ME) and Erin Porter (Sr, Bangor, ME) each hit a three on back to back trips down the floor. Porter finished an 8-3 run to close out the game with two foul shots for the 76-70 win. Laflin finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Porter added 16 points.

Husson battled back from being down 13 in the first half, trailing 34-21 with 3:21 to go in the half. The Eagles closed the half with a 13-0 run to tie the score at 34-34. They rallied again in the second half from a 7 point deficit to tie the score 62-62 with 4:05 to play, but could not close it out. Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME) paced the Eagles with 17 points and a game high 9 rebounds. Ashley Bragdon (Jr, Newport, ME) and Bethany Sevey (So, Skowhegan, ME) each added 13 points.

UMF finished the game shooting 45.1 % from the field and connected on 9-19 (47.4%) from the arch. Husson held a 41-32 advantage on the boards but only shot 41.9% from the field including just 4-15 (26.7%) from the 3 point line.

Husson falls to 6-7 (2-1 NAC) while U. Maine Farmington is now 6-8 and a perfect 4-0 in the NAC.

Both teams next take the floor on Friday, January 23rd. Husson will host Green Mountain at 6:00 pm while UMF travels to Johnson State tip-off at 5:30 pm.
