Box Score Bangor, ME – The Eagles rallied for a hard fought 3-2 win
over Saint Joseph College. Three different Eagles scored with
Nathan Carter (JR, Presque Isle, ME) scoring the game winner with
just under 8:00 minutes to play.
Carter scored off a crossing pass from Mark Trombley (JR, Burnham,
ME) in front of the Monks net with 7:47 left in the game. The
Eagles kept consent pressure on the Monks in the last 15 minutes of
the game, scoring twice.
Tyler Metevier (FY, Kittery, ME) tied the game at 2-2 with 13:36
left. Natapong Kongsuriya (SR, Hampden, ME) made a nice move down
the right side and served up Metevier in front of the net for the
game tying goal.
After a scoreless first half, the Monks scored early in the second
half. Kevin Melaga (SR, Easthampton, MA) scored 4:21 into the
second half with an assist by Doug MacCallum (JR, Hingham, MA).
Husson answered four minutes later as Trombley scored with a great
individual effort getting free in front of the net with a shot past
Saint Joseph goalie Will Pike (SO,Gorham, ME) in the right
corner.
Saint Joseph would answer a 1:30 later with a beautiful goal by
MacCallum. Melega assisted with a 40 foot service in front of the
box and MacCallum headed it home past Miguel Dominguez (SO, Rome,
GA) to go up 2-1. The Eagles rallied with two goals in the last
13:36 minutes.
Pike ended with 9 saves on 18 shots while Dominguez had 3 saves
against 10 shots.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, September 10 as Husson
will host Colby College, ME at 4:00 PM. Saint Joseph will host
Worcester State, MA at 7:00 PM.
