Bangor, ME – Bates College rolled by Husson University 79-64 in a non conference game at Newman Gym. Val Beckwith (Sr, Woburn, MA) led the Bobcats with 25 points and 7 rebounds.

Bates used a 13-4 run late in the first half to take control of the game. Lauren Ianofsky (Jr, Belmont, MA) steal and lay-up with 3:16 to go in the half pushed the Bobcat lead to 34-21. Husson answered with a 10-4 run to end the half, to close the lead to 38-33 at intermission.

The Eagles would get no closer in the second half. Bates opened the 2nd half with a 15-7 pushing their lead to 55-40 with 13:19 to play. Maggie Depoy (So, Chicago, IL) capped the run off with a three pointer. Depoy finished with 14 points including 2-2 from the arch.

Husson was lead by Shelby Bradford (Sr, Lee, ME) with 25 points and a game high 14 rebounds. Bethany Sevey (So, Skowhegan, ME) finished with 12 points. The Eagles held a 33-30 advantage on the boards but committed 21 turnovers.

Bates shot 52.4% in the second half as they moved to 3-1 on the season. Husson falls to 1-3.

Husson host Bowdoin College on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:30 pm while Bates next plays Wentworth Tech on Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 pm.
