Box Score 2 Bangor, ME – Carolyn Griggs (Sr, Lincoln, VT) had a pair
of goals leading Castleton State in a critical 3-1 NAC win.
Castleton remains undefeated in conference play at 2-0 (7-4) while
the Eagles drop to 1-6 and 0-2 in the NAC.
Griggs tied the score at 1-1 with her first goal just under 15
minutes to play. She was set up by Kayla Blank (Sr, Whitesboro,
NY). Griggs put the Spartans up 2-1 3:18 into the second half with
her second goal on the day. Blank served a corner to Sarah Flore
(So, Springfield, VT) found Grggs who finished off the play with
her 10th goal on the year.
Marie Amaral (Jr, Barre, VT) tacked on an insurance goal putting
back a rebound by Kara Voisine (Fy, Corinth, ME) making it 3-1 with
13 minutes remaining.
Husson got on the board first as Erica Dorso (Sr, Farmingdale, ME)
scored her 5th goal on the season. Dorso was assisted by Elisha
Dorso (Jr, Farmingdale, ME)
Voisine played very well in goal, recording 14 saves against 17
shots. Voisine kept the game close as the Spartans had numerous
quality scoring chances. Trisha Clark (Sr, East Dover, VT) had 3
saves against 4 shots. Clark denied Husson a chance to tie it up
with 14:10 to play when she turned away Sarah Hessert (Jr, Hampden,
ME) off an Eagle corner.
Husson travels to Thomas College on Saturday, October 11th at 11:00
am while Castleton will face Saint Joseph's College on
Sunday, October 5th at 1:00 pm.
