Prior to coming to Husson in March of 2020, Hobbs was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Dakota State University (S.D.) for the 2019 season. He guided a defense that accumulated 19 interceptions and finished the regular season tied for second nationally in interceptions. In addition, the Trojan defense ranked 38th nationally in total defense following the 2019 season, which was a large improvement from the 2018 season before Hobbs joined DSU, when they ranked 85th in the nation in total defense. Under Hobbs’ tutelage, the DSU defense finished with an average of 21.8 points allowed per game and two fumble recoveries, which allowed the defense to finish with 21 takeaways defensively. Hobbs also helped guide the DSU defense to a school-record six interceptions in their homecoming game against Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2019.

Before working at DSU, Hobbs was an assistant coach for the Presentation College (S.D.) football team for three years, as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. In addition, he served as the co-special teams coordinator for the Saints and helped guide the Presentation defense to a No. 4 national ranking in total defense in 2016.

In 2014 and 2015, Hobbs was a graduate assistant coach for the Ottawa University (Kan.) football team, coaching the linebackers and assisting with special teams. He was an integral part of the 2014 Ottawa Braves football team that captured the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. In 2015, he helped the Braves to a No. 7 national ranking in total defense.

Hobbs also worked with USA Football during the summer of 2015 as a defensive coordinator for the USA Football National Development Games in College Station, Texas.

Adding to his coaching experience, Hobbs also served as the assistant linebackers coach at Castleton University in 2013 and worked as the football operations and recruiting intern at Middlebury College in 2014.

Hobbs was a three-year letter winner as a member of the Castleton University Spartans football team as a linebacker from 2010-12. He was named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All-Academic Team in 2012.

Hobbs earned a Bachelor of Science in sports administration and minor in coaching from Castleton University in 2014. Additionally, Hobbs earned a Masters of Business Administration from Ottawa University in 2016.

A native of Middlebury, Vermont, Hobbs attended Middlebury Union High School. He and wife, Brittny, live in Bangor, Maine with their sons, Oakly and Nikko.
