Cindi Howard joined the Husson University women's tennis team as an assistant coach prior to the team's first year in 2015-16.

CAREER AT A GLANCE:

  • Since joining the inaugural coaching staff, Howard has helped the Eagles post a 69-25 (.734) overall record and a 35-8 (.814) mark versus conference foes, in addition to five-straight conference championships from 2018-2022.
  • Howard has coached multiple North Atlantic Conference All-Conference Singles members - Meridith Blessard (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Sarah Smith (2017), Ashley Matlock (2018, 2019), Natalie Tilton (2018, 2019, 2020), Hannah Malinen (2019, 2020, 2022), Julia O'Leary (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022), Nicci Munroe (2020, 2021), Emily Doten (2021, 2022) and Molly Chicoine (2021, 2022).
  • Howard has guided numerous North Atlantic Conference All-Conference Doubles selections - Meridith Blessard (2015, 2016, 2018), Katie Pratt (2015, 2016), Charlotte Bednarz (2016, 2017), Sarah Smith (2016, 2017), Hannah Malinen (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022), Ashley Matlock (2018, 2019), Natalie Tilton (2018, 2019, 2020), Nicci Munroe (2019, 2021, 2022), Marisa Brown (2019, 2020), Jocelyn Bell (2019, 2020), Molly Chicoine (2021, 2022) and Julia O'Leary (2022).
  • Howard has directed three North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honorees - Ashley Matlock (2019), Natalie Tilton (2020) and Hannah Malinen (2022).
  • Howard has mentored two North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year selections - Ashley Matlock (2018) and Emily Doten (2021).
  • Howard has tutored three North Atlantic Conference Tournament MVP recipients - Meridith Blessard (2018), Natalie Tilton (2019) and Nicci Munroe (2022).
  • Howard has won three Penobscot Valley Conference Championships, five Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Championships and five KVAC Regional Championships. She was voted coach of the year four times in the PVC and three times in the KVAC while at Bangor High School.


PERSONAL:

  • Howard has a strong playing background that includes collegiate play at both San Diego City College and San Diego State University. She continues to play USTA league tennis.
  • Howard earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from San Diego State University in 1982.
  • A native of San Diego, Calif., Howard attended Herbert Hoover High School.
