Kate Goupee returned to Husson in September of 2026 as the interim head men's and women's cross country coach.

Goupee had served as the head coach of the Husson men's cross country program since May 2014 before stepping down from the post following the 2023 season and led the Eagles to new heights including the program's first North Atlantic Conference Championship in 2018 and the program's first NCAA Championship Qualifier, Joel Bond in 2021. 

Goupee arrived at Husson in 2012 serving as an assistant cross country coach for two seasons after spending the previous four seasons as the head cross country coach at Mount Desert Island High School from 2006-09 after serving as an assistant coach for the previous two season. Additionally, Goupee was awarded the Maine Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Class B Coach of the Year in 2006, the Portland Press Herald State of Maine Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2006, as well as the Penobscot Valley Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2008.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, Goupee was a four-year letterwinner on the women's cross country team earning all-conference and NAIA All-Region accolades in four-straight seasons from 1999-2002, including back-to-back Conference and NAIA Region 10 Runner of the Year honors in 2001 and 2002. The three-time captain was the 2001 Maine Intercollegiate State Championship individual runner-up and an NAIA National Championship qualifier for three seasons from 2000-02, earning NAIA All-American honors with a 21st place finish at the 2002 NAIA National Championship. Off the course, Goupee was named an NAIA Academic All-American in 2001 and 2002. Goupee's accomplishments on the course and in the classroom culminated in a 2022 selection into the UMaine-Farmington Hall of Fame.

The Dedham, Maine native attended Brewer High School and lettered in cross country from 1995-98 and was a member of three Class A State Championship teams.

Kate and her husband, Andy, have two daughters, Belle and Nelly.
