Janine Gmitter - Head Athletic Trainer
Janine enters her 20th year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Husson University in 2023-24, but has been on the Husson campus since 2001 working various summer camps.
Along with being the head athletic trainer, Janine also became an assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator in 2010. In 2016, she was named the associate athletic director. She also teaches as an adjunct professor in the University's College of Business.
Before coming to Husson, Janine spent four years as the head athletic trainer and physical education instructor at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, Fla.
Janine was a four-year member and three-year letter winner at guard on the women's basketball team at Waynesburg College from 1994-98 and earned a bachelor of science in athletic training in 1998. She earned a master’s degree in athletic training from Ohio University in 2000.
Janine is the primary contact for football and softball.
Janine currently resides in Brewer, Maine.

Evan Paradis - Assistant Athletic Trainer
Evan Paradis worked part time as an athletic trainer for Husson since the fall of 2012, but was hired as a full-time employee in the Fall of 2014.
Before employment at Husson, Evan worked for Belfast Area High School, John Bapst High School, Select Physical Therapy and Philip Pouzol Physical Therapy.
Evan earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from the University of Maine in 2012.
Evan is born and raised local and currently resides in Old Town, Maine.

JT Sandoval - Assistant Athletic Trainer
JT Sandoval joined the Husson University athletic training staff in the summer of 2023.
Prior to joining the staff at Husson, Sandoval started his athletic training career as an athletic training student at Northern Michigan University, where he assisted with football, men's ice hockey and women's volleyball. After his stint with the Wildcats, Sandoval moved on to the USA National Training Site, where he also held the position of athletic training student and assisted with USA wrestling and weight lifting. Sandoval's final stop before coming to Bangor was at Benedictine University, where he completed an immersive internship and assisted with the school's men's lacrosse program.
Sandoval is a native of Oak Park, Illinois, and attended Northern Michigan University where he earned his bachelors of science in sports science in 2021 and his masters of science in athletic training in 2023. |

Laurin Goupille - Assistant Athletic Trainer
Laurin Goupille joined the Husson University athletic training staff as an assistant athletic trainer in August of 2024.
Prior to joining the Eagles, Goupille started her athletic training career as an athletic training student at the University of Alabama, where she gained clinical experience with a number of the school's athletic teams.
Following her time with the Crimson Tide, Goupille spent nearly two years with North Carolina State University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, where she provided day-to-day care for the Wolf Pack's softball and women's golf teams, in addition to providing secondary coverage for the women's basketball and volleyball programs.
Goupille's final stop before coming to Bangor was at Oklahoma Baptist University, where she had served as an assistant athletic trainer since September of 2019. At Oklahoma Baptist, Goupille administered day-to-day care for women's basketball, softball, cheerleading and dance teams.
Goupille is a native of Presque Isle, Maine and earned her bachelor of science in athletic training from the University of Alabama and graduated summa cum laude in 2017, in addition to earning her master of recreation from North Carolina State University in May of 2019. |

Derek Loupin '02 - Physical Therapist
Derek is a physical therapist and center manager at Saco Bay Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy in Bangor. He is a 2002 graduate of Husson University and board certified in sports physical therapy. Derek works with local athletes of all skill levels, and has many years of general orthopaedic experience. He is the team physical therapist for the University of Maine and Husson University athletics, as well as John Bapst Memorial High School. |

Dr. Cameron Trubey, MD - Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician

Dr. Trubey was raised in Brunswick, ME and completed high school at Pine Tree Academy preparatory school in Freeport. He then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan where he graduated with distinction as a J. N. Andrews Honors Scholar. He completed medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California and then residency in Family Medicine at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Chattanooga. He next received advanced training at the University of Notre Dame – South Bend Sports Medicine program where he completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Trubey has served in the field of Sports Medicine as a physician in football, hockey, soccer, basketball, wrestling, endurance running, track, boxing, weightlifting, and downhill snow sports. He has experience with athletes from high school, college (Div I&III), and advanced backgrounds (USA Boxing and USA Weightlifting) and currently serves as the Head Team Physician for the University of Maine. Dr. Trubey is board certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine and has published on the topics of concussion, tendonopathy, and sports nephrology. His professional interests include sports-related concussion, diagnostic ultrasound, and functional movement patterns.

Dr. Lucas was born and raised in Augusta, Maine. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Simmons College in Biochemistry with a focus on Physics, she returned to Maine to be closer to her extensive family and to attend the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Lucas went on to complete her Family Medicine Residency in Lewiston at Central Maine Medical Center. During this time, she served as a Board Member on the Maine Academy of Family Physicians Board and worked on curriculum development of sports medicine. She was awarded the Central Maine Medical Center Research and Professionalism award for her accomplishments during Residency. She then pursued a Fellowship in Sports Medicine in at Maine-Dartmouth in Augusta, Maine where she advanced her skills in dynamic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound guided intra-articular steroid injections, platelet rich plasma injections as well as acute musculoskeletal concerns and fracture management. Throughout her training, Dr. Lucas served as a team physician for Colby College and Bates College, covering numerous sports including football, soccer, ice hockey, field hockey, track, basketball, snow sports including alpine and nordic skiing, rugby, rowing, wrestling, endurance sports, and lacrosse. She has been published in several journals and presented at multiple national conferences including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Lucas enjoys spending most of her free time being active outdoors with her husband. Whether she is hiking, running, or kayaking in the summer or nordic/alpine skiing and fat biking in the winter, she enjoys being outdoors. As a Maine native, she is grateful for the opportunities and support the Maine community as provided her and she is passionate about serving the community she grew up in.

Dr. Morse was born and raised in the central Maine region. After high school graduation, he pursed a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. Upon completion, he enrolled in medical school at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and also pursued research at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Following medical school, he and his family moved to Rochester, New York for an orthopedic residency. Further sports medicine fellowship training was performed at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Sports Medicine where he learned advanced techniques for the treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle injuries including the double-bundle ACL reconstruction. While there, he also gained exposure to the care of high school, college, and professional athletes such as the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Dr. Morse is the author of many book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and has given lectures at the national level. He also serves on the Medical Executive Committee of St. Joseph Hospital and is on the Medical Advisory Board of Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Brewer. He has an interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle joint injuries as well as open complex reconstruction. He is also the Team Physician for the University of Maine and several local area high schools as well as the Assistant Team Physician for Husson University.

Dr. McGuire graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
After medical school, he did his orthopedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. While at Henry Ford, he participated in the care of professional athletes from the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. After finishing residency, he completed his sports medicine fellowship at Louisiana State University and was an Assistant Team Physician for McNeese State University. Prior to coming to Bangor, Dr. McGuire was a Team Physician at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania.
Dr. McGuire currently serves as a Team Physician for the University of Maine, Husson University, Maine Maritime Academy, Thomas College and Bangor High School. He specializes in Sports Medicine which includes non-operative, arthroscopic and open surgical treatment of injuries to the Shoulder, Knee, Elbow and Ankle. He also has an interest in fracture care.

Dr. Stephen Arsenault - Chiropractor
Dr. Stephen Arsenault was born and raised in Prince Edward Island. He graduated from Parker University in 1997 with his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. He and his family decided to move to Maine to open Orono Chiropractic to fulfill a need in the area for quality patient care. Dr. Arsenault has served on the Board of Directors of the Maine Chiropractic Association for a total of 10 years. When Dr. Arsenault is not in the office, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and sons, skiing, fishing, and jet-skiing. |
