For Lance Libby '07, the memories from his time with the Husson University men's golf program go well beyond scores, championships and individual accolades.
It is the friendships, the experiences and the lessons learned along the way that still resonate nearly two decades later.
Those experiences helped shape Libby into one of the most accomplished golfers in program history and have now earned him a place among Husson's all-time greats as a member of the Husson Sports Hall of Fame.
"I was shocked," Libby said of learning about his induction. "There are so many amazing athletes that have played at Husson and it is very humbling to be a part of this group."

Libby made his mark on the Eagles' men's golf program from 2003-07, putting together four years of remarkable consistency while helping Husson establish itself as one of the premier programs in the region.
A four-time all-conference selection, Libby earned Maine Intercollegiate All-State honors twice and was a two-time New England Intercollegiate Golf Association All-New England honoree.
His name remains scattered throughout the Husson record book.
At the time of his induction, Libby ranks tied for fourth in career tournament victories, third in top-five finishes, tied for fourth in top-10 finishes, tied for ninth in rounds played, seventh in overall wins and 10th in career winning percentage. He also owns several single-season marks that remain among the best in program history.
Over his four-year career, Libby competed in 50 tournaments and 73.5 rounds, posting a 77.02 scoring average. He recorded six rounds of par or better, won nine tournaments, finished inside the top five 28 times and recorded 32 top-10 finishes, while firing a career-low round of 69.
For Libby, that level of consistency was not something he achieved alone.
"I have been lucky to have amazing guidance and support throughout my time playing golf that I was able to refine even further at Husson with amazing coaches and teammates," Libby said.

One of the people who had the greatest impact on Libby was his coach, Bruce MacGregor.
When Libby reflects on his time at Husson, he remembers the way MacGregor motivated his teams to succeed while simultaneously teaching lessons that extended far beyond the golf course.
"How our amazing coach motivated our team to help us win and learn valuable lessons that remain timeless," Libby said of what continues to stand out about his Husson experience.
Those lessons helped produce plenty of winning.
Libby played a major role in one of the most successful stretches in Husson men's golf history, helping the Eagles capture three State of Maine championships, three New England championships and three North Atlantic Conference titles. His career culminated in 2007 when Husson became the first team in program history to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.
While those championships remain an important part of Libby's legacy, he remembers his Husson career just as much for the people alongside him.
"The friends and amazing experiences," Libby said when asked about his favorite memories.

It is that combination of individual achievement and team success that makes his Hall of Fame recognition particularly meaningful.
"It means a lot because I truly cherish my time on the team at Husson," Libby said. "It is up there in my most valuable accomplishments through my life."
For Libby, the opportunity to be remembered as someone who helped set a standard for future Husson golfers carries similar significance.
Husson men's golf has continued to build on the success achieved during Libby's career, but his accomplishments remain a significant part of the program's history. The nine tournament victories, 28 top-five finishes and 32 top-10 performances tell one part of that story. The championships and NCAA Tournament appearance tell another.
"It is an incredible honor and something that I will value forever," Libby said. "Husson is so special and we did some amazing things together as a golf program."
The impact of Libby's time at Husson has extended well beyond the golf course.
Libby earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in sport management from Husson in 2007. Today, he serves as a finance manager at Central Maine Chevrolet, where many of the skills he developed as a student-athlete continue to influence his career.
"My amazing experience at Husson provided valuable skills dealing with people and situations that have helped me in multiple career roles," Libby said. "These skills help me lead a team and deliver sales goals consistently."
The same qualities required to succeed in golf — patience, competitiveness, problem solving and an ability to respond under pressure — have remained important throughout his professional life.
"It has helped me be patient, competitive, a leader and problem solver," Libby said. "Most importantly it has helped me perform well under pressure."
As Libby prepares to take his place in the Husson Sports Hall of Fame, he is quick to share the recognition with the many people who helped him along the way.
"Everyone," Libby said. "So many people have helped me get here. In particular Coach MacGregor was wonderful as a coach and I will never forget my time playing for him."

For a golfer whose career helped raise the standard of Husson men's golf, induction into the Hall of Fame provides another lasting connection to a program that continues to mean so much to him.
The records and championships document what Libby accomplished.
The relationships and lessons explain why those four years still matter.
"Thank you and Go Eagles!"
