CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine — The Husson University men's golf team finished runner-up at the Seawolf Shootout on Tuesday, firing a team score of 312 at Purpoodock Club.
The Eagles placed second in the seven-team field, finishing 12 strokes behind tournament champion the University of Southern Maine, which carded a 300. Husson edged host Southern Maine Community College by one stroke, as the Seawolves finished third with a 313.
Senior Ty Dickson led the way for Husson, carding a 5-over round to finish in a three-way tie for third place. Dickson finished four strokes behind individual medalist Will Farschon of Southern Maine, who posted a 1-over round.
Sophomore Chase Farnsworth also recorded a top-10 finish for the Eagles, shooting 7-over to finish tied for eighth.
Senior Jace Cook, sophomore Michael Bruce and senior Juan Carlos Hernandez rounded out Husson's five-player lineup, with all three finishing tied for 11th after matching 8-over rounds.
Dickson, Farnsworth, Cook and Bruce accounted for Husson's four counting scores, combining for the Eagles' team total of 312.
Southern Maine placed three golfers inside the top three, led by Farschon's individual victory. Nick Harmon finished second at 4-over, while Ben Aucoin tied Dickson and Southern Maine Community College's Declan Scott for third at 5-over.
Behind Southern Maine, Husson and Southern Maine Community College, the University of New England finished fourth with a team score of 329. Saint Joseph's College of Maine placed fifth at 332, Maine Maritime Academy finished sixth at 341 and the University of Maine at Farmington rounded out the field with a 350.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday at Riverside Golf Course of the USM Husky Classic.
