BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Husson University men's golf team sits in 14th place following the opening two rounds of the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday at Brunswick Golf Club.

The Eagles carded rounds of 306 and 302 to finish the opening day with a two-round total of 608, putting them three strokes behind Roger Williams University and Wesleyan University, which are tied for 12th at 605.

Sophomore Michael Bruce and senior Ty Dickson led the way for Husson, as both golfers finished the opening 36 holes tied for 24th at 5-over par. Bruce opened the tournament with a 1-over round before shooting 4-over in the second round, while Dickson improved by one stroke from his opening 3-over round with a 2-over performance in round two.

Senior Juan Carlos Hernandez also improved during the second round, following an opening 6-over performance with a 2-over round to finish the day tied for 41st at 8-over par.

Sophomore Chase Farnsworth sits tied for 74th at 15-over following rounds of 9-over and 6-over, while senior Jace Cook rounded out the Eagles' lineup tied for 81st at 18-over after rounds of 8-over and 10-over.

Husson improved by four strokes as a team during its second trip around Brunswick Golf Club, moving from a first-round 306 to a 302.

Tufts University leads the 16-team field following rounds of 296 and 292 for a 588 total. New York University is one stroke back at 589, while Trinity College (Conn.) sits third at 592. Eastern Connecticut State University (594) and host Bowdoin College (595) round out the top five.

Individually, New York University's Tanmay Chandra holds the lead at 5-under par after posting rounds of 3-under and 2-under. The University of Southern Maine's Will Farschon and Trinity's Charlie Mullin are tied for second at 2-under.

The Eagles return to Brunswick Golf Club on Sunday for the third and final round of the Bowdoin Invitational, with play scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
