BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's golf team placed four golfers inside the top 10 en route to a runner-up finish at the Husson Invitational on Saturday at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.

The Eagles carded a team score of 377, finishing 16 strokes behind tournament champion University of New England, which recorded a 361. The University of Southern Maine rounded out the three-team field in third with a 413.

Freshman Alison Mitchell led Husson with a sixth-place finish after firing a 20-over 91. Mitchell finished 12 strokes behind individual medalist Abby Flanagan of UNE, who carded an 8-over 79.

Sophomore Riley Fyfe followed closely behind Mitchell, finishing seventh overall with a 22-over 93 to give the Eagles two golfers inside the top seven.

Sophomore Caroline Chausse added Husson's third top-10 performance of the tournament, carding a 25-over 96 to finish ninth.

Sophomore Abigail Theriault completed the Eagles' scoring lineup with a 26-over 97, finishing tied for 10th overall and giving Husson four golfers among the top 10.

UNE claimed the top two spots on the individual leaderboard, as Flanagan earned medalist honors with her 79 and Amanda Forziati finished runner-up with a 9-over 80. Maine Maritime Academy individual Lily Blanchard placed third with a 13-over 84.

Husson returns to action on Saturday for the Seawolf Shootout, hosted by Southern Maine Community College at Val Halla Golf Club.
