Women's golf ties for second at John Queenan Memorial

CASCO, Maine — The Husson University women's golf team tied for second place at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational on Wednesday at Point Sebago Golf Resort.

The Eagles finished the one-day tournament with a team score of 401, matching the University of Southern Maine for runner-up honors behind tournament champion University of New England.

Sophomore Riley Fyfe led Husson individually, carding a 98 to finish ninth overall. Freshman Alison Mitchell followed one stroke behind with a 99 to place 10th.

Sophomore Abigail Theriault added a round of 101 to finish 12th, while sophomore Caroline Chausse rounded out Husson's scoring with a 103 to tie for 13th. The four scores combined to give the Eagles their team total of 401.

Southern Maine's Remy Levin captured individual medalist honors with a 79, edging University of New England's Amanda Forziati, who finished second with an 80.

UNE won the team title with a score of 353, while Husson and Southern Maine tied for second at 401. Saint Joseph's College of Maine finished fourth with a 480, while Southern Maine Community College did not record a complete team score.

Husson returns to the links on Saturday to host the Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course in Bangor.
