CASCO, Maine — The Husson University men's golf team placed third at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational on Wednesday at Point Sebago Golf Resort.

The Eagles carded a team score of 305 during the one-day tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine, finishing just seven strokes behind tournament champion the University of Southern Maine.

Sophomore Michael Bruce and senior Ty Dickson led Husson's scoring lineup, as both golfers fired rounds of 75 to finish tied for fifth individually. Senior Juan Carlos Hernandez followed one stroke behind with a 76, earning a tie for ninth place.

Freshman Reese Smith rounded out Husson's four counting scores with a 79 to finish tied for 16th, giving the Eagles their team total of 305. Sophomore Chase Farnsworth also competed as part of Husson's lineup and finished tied for 29th after shooting an 81.

Senior Jace Cook turned in another strong showing while competing as an individual, carding a 75 to join Bruce and Dickson in a tie for fifth place.

Southern Maine's Will Farschon claimed individual medalist honors with a round of 70, three strokes ahead of teammate Quinn Dillon, who finished second with a 73.

Southern Maine's A team captured the team championship with a 298, while the Huskies' B team finished second at 301. Husson followed in third at 305, finishing 12 strokes ahead of both the University of Maine at Augusta and Saint Joseph's A team, which tied for fourth at 317.

The University of New England placed sixth with a 318, followed by the University of Maine-Presque Isle in seventh at 326 and Southern Maine Community College in eighth at 328. Saint Joseph's B team finished ninth at 338, the University of Maine at Farmington was 10th at 349 and Saint Joseph's C team rounded out the field in 11th at 365.

Husson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the 36th annual Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
