Walsh, Emerson pick up LEC titles on day three of LEC championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Husson University men's swimming & diving team continued competition at the 2026 Little East Championships on Saturday, turning in a series of strong swims en route to a fourth-place standing through Event 36 with 474 team points.

Husson opened the evening with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, touching the wall in 1:35.80.

In the 400-yard individual medley, senior Jacob Brown represented the Eagles in the consolation final and placed ninth overall with a time of 5:04.77.

The Eagles put four swimmers into the championship final of the 50-yard butterfly. Senior Sam Peiser led the way with a runner-up finish in 23.33, while also setting a new program record in the event, followed by senior Brady Hand in fourth at 23.81, senior Brayden Champlin in fifth at 24.00 and senior Lucas Fendl in eighth at 24.83.

Senior Alex Walsh claimed the conference title in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the championship final in 1:45.13, which was good for a new program record in the event. Freshman Andrew Prince added a ninth-place finish in the consolation final with a time of 1:57.59.

Senior Ryan Emerson continued his standout meet with a championship performance in the 100-yard backstroke, touching first in 52.98 to set a new LEC meet and Husson program record. Freshman Mac Morris finished ninth overall in the consolation final with a 1:00.04.

Sophomore Jake Perkins earned a championship final appearance in the 100-yard breaststroke and placed seventh with a 1:02.37.

Husson closed the night with a strong showing in the 800-yard freestyle relay, finishing second overall in 7:15.77 to set a new program record.

On the diving boards, freshman Kobe Swett turned in a runner-up finish in the men's one-meter finals with a total score of 342.95 points, highlighted by 121.55 points in the voluntary round and 221.40 in the optional round.

The Eagles will conclude championship competition on Sunday, looking to gain further ground in the rankings, with prelims set to begin at 10 a.m. and finals to follow at 6 p.m.
