BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's swimming & diving team celebrated its decorated senior class on Saturday at Webber Pool.
Husson began the day in the 200-yard medley relay. The "A" relay of senior Alex Walsh, freshman Bryce Upton and seniorsBrayden Champlin and Jacob Brown won in 1:46.02, while the "B" relay of freshman Mac Morris, sophomore Jake Perkins, senior Brady Hand and freshman Andrew Prince finished close behind in 1:47.16.
In the 200 freestyle, senior Lucas Fendl won in 1:57.24, followed by Upton (2:02.68), Prince (2:03.92) and Morris (2:10.80).
Husson's breaststrokers also put together strong swims. In the 50 breaststroke, senior Ryan Emerson won in 28.77, with Hand right behind at 28.78 and Walsh finishing in 29.00. In the 100 breaststroke, Emerson added another win in 1:06.64, while freshman Kobe Swett swam 1:10.42 and Fendl posted a 1:13.97.
On the sprint side, the 50 freestyle saw Champlin take first in 22.97, followed by Perkins (23.44), Fendl (24.08) and Morris (24.82). In the 100 freestyle, Champlin won again in 50.90, and Husson had additional swims from Prince (55.05), Upton (55.60), Brown (55.73) and Morris (58.12).
In diving, Swett took home scores of 229.35 and 161.45 in both one-meter events.
Husson closed the meet with a full lineup in the 100 IM and the 200 free relay. Emerson won the IM in 57.55, with Walsh (57.71) and Hand (57.76) close behind, followed by Swett (1:01.04), Perkins (1:03.00), Upton (1:04.43), Brown (1:07.28) and Prince (1:09.33). In the 200 free relay, the Husson "A" team of Fendl, Walsh, Champlin and Perkins won in 1:32.36, and the Husson "B" relay of Hand, Emerson, Brown and Swett finished in 1:35.95.
Prior to the start of the meet, Husson honored its senior class of Brayden Champlin, Alex Walsh, Brady Hand, Ryan Emerson, Jacob Brown and Lucas Fendl.
The Eagles will now get prepared for the Little East Championship meet, scheduled for Feb. 12 through Feb. 15 at the Boston Sports Institute.
