BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Vermont State University Johnson on Saturday afternoon at Bangor High School.
The Eagles improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in NAC play with the victory, while the Badgers fell to 0-9 overall and 0-3 in conference action.
Husson opened the match by sweeping doubles play to earn the doubles point.
At No. 1 doubles, senior Kayla Lockhart and junior Anah Albert cruised to a 6-0 victory over Caitlyn Morey and Evangelica Luneau. Sophomores Katelyn Cotter and Sadie May followed with another 6-0 decision at No. 2 doubles, defeating Roslyn Gibbons and Rose Oakland.
The Eagles also received a win by default at No. 3 doubles from senior Olivia Christensen and freshman Julia Spencer, completing the doubles sweep.
Husson continued its dominance in singles action, winning all six matches without surrendering a game.
Lockhart picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Morey at No. 1 singles, while Albert earned an identical 6-0, 6-0 win against Gibbons in the No. 2 position.
Cotter defeated Luneau 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles before May completed the four contested singles matches with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Oakland at No. 4.
Junior Mallory Beaulieu and Spencer earned victories by default at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to complete the 7-0 conference win.
Husson finished the afternoon with victories in all three doubles matches and all six singles matches, with the Eagles winning each of the six contested matches in straight sets.
The Eagles conclude their regular season tomorrow with a doubleheader against Vermont State University Lyndon for senior day beginning at 10 a.m.
