Madden earns LEC individual championship, women’s swimming & diving climbs to fifth overall

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Senior Erin Madden made Husson University women's swimming & diving history on Saturday during day three of the Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championship becoming the first Eagle in program history to win and LEC individual championship title. 
 
Husson swam past Western New England University on Saturday to move into fifth place in the championship standings with 236 points, trailing Keene State College who leads the meet with 557, Bridgewater State University (520), Eastern Connecticut State University (494) and the University of New England (456). 
 
Madden made history for the Eagles in the 400-yard IM, winning Husson's first LEC individual championship title and breaking a program record time of 5:08.81 with an impressive 5:00.73. 
 
Freshman Olivia Underwood added to Husson's point total with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.02. 
 
The Eagles ended the evening with a fifth-place showing in the 800-yard freestyle relay, just missing the program record of 8:46.59 set during the 2022 season with a time of 8:46.70 by Madden, freshman Gabby Hoffmann, sophomore Mia Winslow and Underwood. 
 
Additionally, junior Riley Mahoney finished third in the 11-dive, one-meter event with a score of 367.30. 
 
The Eagles return to the pool on Sunday for the final day of the LEC swimming & diving championship beginning at 10 a.m.
