GORHAM, Maine – The Maine Soccer Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 induction class and Husson University alumna Shelby Bradford (Pickering) '10 '10G will be inducted.
Established by representatives of a variety of Maine soccer's stakeholders, the Maine Soccer Hall of Fame will be inducting eleven administrators, coaches, and players; three referees; and one team.
"Since this is our inaugural class of inductees, we thought the symbolic numbers of 11 individuals, three referees, and one team were a neat way to recognize our first class of Hall of Famers," explained Maine Soccer Hall of Fame co-founder and president John Morgan.Â
"The present and future for Maine soccer have never been brighter, but it was important for our organization to recognize that all of us are standing on the shoulders of folks who started growing the game of soccer in our state before it became as well-known and as popular as it is today."
The Maine Soccer Hall of Fame was established in 2024, and its sixteen directors consist of representatives involved in professional soccer, collegiate soccer, and five scholastic and club soccer organizations throughout Maine that represent administrators, coaches, players, and referees.Â
The organization's inaugural inductees will be recognized at an annual awards banquet that also recognizes scholastic soccer standouts in Bangor on Sunday, December 7.
This year's induction class includes the 1972 Gorham High School Boys Soccer team, Michael Berticelli, Bradford, John Cullen, Peter Gardner, Walt Gorneau, Brian Higgins, Michael Jeffrey, Kristina Kelly, Troy Kendrick, Bob Leib, Ken Roberts, Roger Levesque, Mark Serdjenian and Bob White.
Bradford was a four-year letterwinner as a forward on the Husson women's soccer from 2006-09, in addition to being a four-year member of the women's basketball program and a two-year member of the women's lacrosse team.
A Husson Sports Hall of Fame member for all three sports, Bradford's jersey is retired in women's soccer and women's basketball. She is the only women's soccer player in program history to have her jersey retired.
On the pitch, Bradford netted 64 goals and 37 assists for 165 points off 338 shots with 11 game-winning tallies in 64 career games played for hall of fame member Keith Bosley.
Bradford helped guide the Eagles to four North Atlantic Conference Championships and berths in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. She also helped the 2008 team win the program's first-ever national tournament game, a 2-0 shutout road victory over Norwich University.
Bradford was named an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators and was a three-time member of the All-NAC squad, NAC all-tournament team and United Soccer Coaches All-New England Region team. She was voted the NAC player of the year in 2006 and NAC tournament MVP in 2008. Off the field, Bradford was a two-time member of the NAC all-academic team and was voted CSC academic all district in 2009.
