Swimming & diving opens season with Husson Relay Meet

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's and women's swimming and diving programs posted a strong showing at the 2025 Husson Relays on Friday evening, earning several top-three finishes across relay and diving events at the Webber Pool.

The Eagles got off to a quick start in the pool with the women's 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Emily Kennard, junior Logan Williams, freshman Sara Harriman, and freshman Brooklyn Henderson claiming first place in 2:02.75, outpacing teams from Maine Maritime and Saint Joseph's.

On the men's side, the quartet of senior Alex Walsh, freshman Bryce Upton, senior Sam Peiser, and sophomore Bennett Walker placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.65, while another Husson squad — senior Jacob Brown, freshman Felix Markosian, senior Brady Hand, and freshman Mac Morris — rounded out the top three at 1:52.89.

The women continued their success as junior Olivia Underwood, sophomore Mariah Muskavitch, sophomore Morgan Collins, and freshman Abbey Donato earned first place in the 200-yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:03.80. The men followed with another first-place finish in the same event, with senior Brayden Champlin, freshman Andrew Prince, senior Lucas Fendl, and Peiser combining for a 1:45.55mark.

In the mixed 400 medley relay, Husson's team of Harriman, sophomore Jake Perkins, freshman Kobe Swett, and sophomore Gabrielle Hoffmann topped the field with a 4:15.63, edging the second Husson squad of senior Ryan Emerson, Upton, Henderson, and Kennard, who placed second at 4:17.49.

The women's 200 freestyle relay team of Williams, junior Mia Winslow, Donato, and Muskavitch also turned in a runner-up finish at 1:55.35.

Husson dominated the diving events, as senior Riley Mahoney and sophomore Mairen Hoch went first and second in the women's one-meter dive with scores of 216.88 and 161.00, respectively. On the men's side, Swett captured first place with 164.80 points.

The Eagles added more strong performances late in the meet, highlighted by second and third-place finishes in both the women's 400-yard IM relay and men's 400-yard IM relay events. The team of Harriman, Collins, Donato, and freshman Izzie Enos clocked 4:53.82, while the team of junior Mackenzie Gray, Winslow, Kennard, and Muskavitch finished third in 5:01.31. For the men, Swett, Fendl, Champlin, and Upton took second with a 4:11.65.

In the women's 200-yard backstroke relay, Husson secured both first and third place, with Gray, Winslow, Hoffmann, and Kennard winning in 2:11.59, and Henderson, Underwood, junior Isabella Cost, and senior Maggie Poulin finishing third in 2:16.21. The men's team of Walsh, Morris, Brown, and Emerson also claimed first in their 200-yard backstroke relay at 1:47.90.

The meet concluded with a thrilling mixed 400 freestyle relay, where the Husson squad of Donato, Champlin, Henderson, and Prince earned first place in 3:48.93, narrowly ahead of the team of Emerson, Collins, Harriman, and Walsh, who placed second (3:49.41).

Husson will return to the pool on Oct. 25 when it hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 12 p.m.
