PORTLAND, Maine — The Husson University women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to Lesley University in the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday at Apex Racket Club.
Lesley (9-4) captured the first doubles match on Sunday winning 8-4 before winning 8-6 at No. 2 doubles before graduate student
Emily Doten and junior
Joey Lynn Ramsdell won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles to pull within 2-1 of the Lynx.
Husson (7-3) evened the match at 2-2 when freshman
Anah Albert won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, however Lesley won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to take the match 5-2.
Sophomore
Kayla Lockhart picked up a win at No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 decision, while the match of the day came at No. 5 singles as senior
Olivia Chandler battled Anna Stamp, losing the first set 6-3 before winning 6-0 and forcing a deciding third set. Stamp would go on to win the deciding frame with a 14-12 score.
Additionally, both Doten and Barber earned all-tournament team honors.
