CASTINE, Maine - The Husson University women's swimming & diving team fell to Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon by a score of 144-132.
The Eagles opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:03.73 by the team of junior
Rachel Hand, junior
Erin Madden, senior
Kayla Payson and freshman
Mia Winslow.
Payson picked up a victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:23.20 before Hand won the 50-yard freestyle by .09 over Maine Maritime's sophomore Rayelle Brewer. Hand won the race with a time of 26.45.
Sophomore
Riley Mahoney won the five-dive one-meter optionals with a score of 145.05 and sophomore
Lily Butler finished second in the six-dive one-meter diving event with 148.95 points.
Winslow earned a win for the Eagles in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:30.60 and a second-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (33.15).
Hand and Payson went 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle with respective times of 5:46.21 and 5:49.77.
Junior
Grace Rocheleau placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke after swimming a 2:59.70.
Madden won the 200-yard individual medley after hitting the wall first with a time of 2:30.41 and swam a 1:00.78 to earn a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
Hand, Winslow, Madden and Hand ended the meet as members of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team with a mark of 4:09.43.
This concludes the Eagles dual meet season, and they will travel to Piscataway, New Jersey on February 16 for the 3-day Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference Championship Meet.Â
