BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's swimming & diving team celebrated their senior day at the Webber Pool on Friday evening in style with a 104-39 win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine in their final home dual meet of the season.
Prior to today's meet, two seniors:
Ben Carusi and
Isaias Therio were recognized for their accomplishments with the Husson University men's swimming & diving program.
Sophomore
Ryan Emerson, Carusi, sophomore
Brayden Champlin and sophomore
Jacob Brown were all on the winning 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.62 to kick off the meet.
Sophomore
Alex Walsh won the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.73), while sophomore
Brady Hand earned the gold in the 100-yard backstroke (58.56).
The Eagles went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with Champlin (23.34), Carusi (24.80), and Brown (25.25) after junior
Nathan Gilliam came away with victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.34).
Therio (53.35), Emerson (54.01), and sophomore
Sam Peiser (54.65) finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard freestyle and Brown picked up the win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:28.11.
Carusi recorded a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.59.
Graduate student
Spencer Bernat scored 181.80 points in the six-dive one-meter event and 146.10 in the five-dive one-meter optionals. Junior
Matt Steeves recorded 125.65 points in the five-dive one-meter optionals and 167.35 points in the six-dive one-meter event.
The final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, comprised of Carusi, Therio, junior
Hunter Jackson, and Gilliam swam a time of 3:48.11.
The Eagles will be back in the water next Saturday, January 20Â on the road against Colby-Sawyer College.
