JOHNSON, Vt. – The Husson University women's tennis team wrapped up their regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Vermont State University at Johnson. With the win, the Eagles close the regular season with a 5-2 record and 3-2 in conference. The Badgers are now 2-6, and 1-4, respectfully.Â
The number one doubles pairing of senior Molly Chicoine and sophomore Julia Barber set the tone for the rest of the match as they won their match, 8-0. Juniors Hannah Duley and Olivia Chandler won the second doubles match, 8-1, while freshmen Kayla Lockhart and Skyla Burch recorded a victory in the third doubles match, 8-1.
The momentum carried into the singles matches as nobody allowed a Badgers' player to earn more than four points in the victory. Barber won the first singles match, 6-1, 6-0, while senior Emily Doten won the number two singles match, 6-2, 6-2. Chicoine swept her opponent in the third singles match, 6-0, 6-0, while sophomore Joey Lynn Ramsdell earned her victory in the fourth singles match, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Kayla Lockhart played the fifth singles match as she won, 6-2, 6-2, before Duley won the sixth singles match, 6-1, 6-2.
The Eagles will await the announcement from the North Atlantic Conference for their seeding for the upcoming conference tournament set to be played on Saturday at Armstrong Tennis Center.
