FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Husson University men's golf finished fifth at Farmingdale State College's Spring Invitational hosted at Bethpage State Park's Red Course after Sunday's final round was canceled. The Eagles shot a collective 20-over-par over the 18 holes.
Husson had two golfers finish in the top-10 of the field of 51 individuals. Junior
Chris Kauppila carded a 1-under 69 on the par-70, 7092-yard course to earn the medalist honors. Meanwhile, senior
Max Woodman shot 3-over to finish in a tie for ninth.
The Eagles as a team carded a 300 and finished 10 shots behind No. 21 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who captured the team title at 10-over after carding a 290. The Engineers were followed by New York University at 13-over.
Husson also got a 9-over 79 from senior
Cade Charron and junior
Will Kavanaugh to round out its four-person score. Junior
Jack King also competed for the Eagles and tied for 40th after carding a 10-over 80.
The Eagles return to the links on May 16th for the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. This year's championship is being hosted by Transylvania University.
