Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Husson University women's tennis team made the trip to Massachusetts on Sunday and picked up a non-conference 6-3 victory over future North Atlantic Conference school of Lesley University.
After losing the first doubles set, seniors
Nicci Munroe and
Molly Chicoine got the Eagles (5-0) on the board with victory in the second doubles match, 8-5. Sophomores
Olivia Chandler and
Sage Dubay took victory in the thrid doubles match, 8-4, to make it 2-1 Husson.
Lesley (3-3) made things a game by winning the first two singles matches but the depth of the Eagles brought home the victory. Senior #3
Emily Doten (6-4, 7-6 (7-1)) and #4 Chicoine (6-3, 7-6 ((8-6)) each won their singles match after a second set tiebreaker. Senior Munroe won the fifth singles match in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) while freshman Juila Barber eased to victory in the sixth singles match, 6-0, 6-2.
The women's tennis team will close out their season on the weekend with a double dip of Vermont schools coming to Hermon High School to take on the Eagles. On Saturday, the Hornets of Northern Vermont-Lyndon will square off with the Eagles for a doubleheader before the Badgers of Northern Vermont-Johnson will do so on Sunday.
