BANGOR, Maine - Husson University women's swimming & diving team remained perfect on the season with a 153-126 win over Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday evening at Webber Pool.
Prior to today's swim meet the HU women's swimming & diving program held a brief ceremony to honor the team's three seniors: Abbie Howe, Sydney Jordan, and Hannah Soutter.
Husson (4-0) opened their day with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:06.85 from Howe, graduate student Ava Emery, Soutter and Jordan. The Eagles followed up the second place finish with their first victory of the meet in the 1000-yard freestyle with a winning time of 13:14.35 from freshman Maggie Poulin before Howe won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.35.
Colby-Sawyer (4-2) won the 100-yard butterfly, with junior Kayla Payson scoring a second place finish in a new school record time of 1:02.22.
Freshman Erika Barone took the 50-yard freestyle swimming a 28.93, while freshman Riley Mahoney made it two for two for Husson, winning the five-dive one-meter optionals with 148.75 points.
Howe picked up her second win of the day with a 1:08.38 in the 100-yard backstroke. Payson snagged the 500-yard freestyle win for Husson and sophomore Shelby Peterson grabbed the victory in the the six-dive round with a total of 181.15 points.
Payson won the 100-yard individual medley with a 1:05.82 to pick up the final victory for the Eagles.
The Eagles finished the day off with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
Husson will travel to Waterville, Maine on Friday, December 2 for the first day of the 2022 State of Maine Collegiate Championship Meet.
