Box Score JOHNSON, Vt. - The Husson University women's tennis team has earned the right to host the North Atlantic Conference Championship next weekend after a 7-2 victory over Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Sunday morning. With the win the Eagles complete an undefeated conference schedule of 3-0 and 6-2 overall. The Badgers fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in the NAC.
Natalie Tilton and Emily Tilton dropped their doubles set to the Badgers while Nicci Munroe and Molly Chicoine earned an 8-0 victory. Lexi Thompson and Marisa Brown earned a default victory as the Eagles led 2-1 after the doubles matches.
In the singles, Natalie Tilton and Mason Lores played to a third set tiebreak with Lores winning the match, 6-7, 7-5, 10-3. Doten won the second singles match, 6-3, 6-3. Munroe took care of the third singles set 6-3, 6-0. Chicoine pulled a straight set victory in the fourth singles match, 6-4, 7-5. Brown completed a shutout in the fifth set while Thompson won her match by default.
Next up for the team is the NAC Championship on Saturday, October 2nd as they will host Thomas College at the Armstrong Tennis Center in Hampden. Game time is to be decided and the winner of the championship will faceoff with the United East Conference winner for the right to play in the NCAA Championship.
