WATERVILLE, Maine - The Husson University women's tennis team started off North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division play on the right foot, defeating Thomas College, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action, Husson's (2-1) Hannah Malinen and Natalie Tilton took down Thomas' (2-2) Lauren Smith and Kiara Goggin on the one line, 9-8. In number two doubles, Nicci Munroe and Molly Chicoine defeated Magan Williams and Riely Pierce, 8-2.  Marisa Brown and Emily Doten cruised by Taylor Davis and Renne Rossi, 8-1, on the third line.

Goggin earned the Terriers lone victory in number one singles play as she won 6-4, 6-2 over N. Tilton. The Eagles won the remaining matches as Malinen triumphed with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Smith, Doten cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Williams, Munroe defeated Davis, 6-1, 6-0, Chicoine won 6-3, 6-2 over Riley Pierce and Brown captured a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Cassidy Hamm.

Husson tennis returns to the court tomorrow at the University of Southern Maine at 12:00 p.m.
