HAMPDEN, Maine - The Husson University women's tennis team defeated Northern Vermont University-Johnson, 8-1, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Divsion matchup on Friday afternoon at Armstrong Tennis Center.

The Eagles improved to 2-0 (2-0 NAC-East) as the Badgers fell to 1-1 (1-1 NAC-East).

In double actions, Natalie Tilton and Hannah Malinen took down Mason Lores and Rebecca Simon on the one line, 8-1. In number two doubles, Molly Chicoine and Nicci Munroe defeated Kayla Hammond and Nicole Monney, 8-2. Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell cruised by Annika Dyhrberg and Kristen Tirrito, 8-0, on the third line. With the doubles victory, Brown captures career combined win (Singles-Doubles) number 45 to take sole possession of first on the program's all-time combined wins list.

Lores earned the Badgers lone victory in number one singles play as she won 6-3, 6-4 over N. Tilton. The Eagles won the remaining matches as Malinen triumphed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, Julia O'Leary cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win, Munroe captured a 6-1, 6-7, 10-9 victory, Bell took down K. Tirrito 6-1, 6-0, and Chicoine rounded out the Eagles' win with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

The Eagles return to action on May 2nd when they face Northern Vermont University-Johnson in the NAC East Division Championship at the Apex Racket & Fitness in Portland, Maine.
