HAMPDEN, Maine - Coming off of ten-straight wins last season, the Husson women's tennis team opened up the 2020-21 season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Thomas College to break the previous program record as the Eagles captured their 11th consecutive victory. 

In doubles action, the two Eagle pairs of Hannah Malinen and Natalie Tilton, along with Jocelyn Bell and Marisa Brown, defeated their Terrier opponents by the score of 8-1. The third doubles team for Husson, Nicci Munroe and Molly Chicoine won automatically due to forfeit. 

Shutting down her opponent Jaden Cummings without surrendering a game, Bell won in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In her first match as an Eagle, Chicoine also posted an impressive feat of 6-0, 6-2, over Renee Rossi in No. 4 singles. Thomas' Kiara Goggin took Julia O'Leary to three sets as Husson came out on top in No. 1 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. The last Eagle to compete in singles action was Munroe, taking the 6-4, 6-3, win over Lauren Smith. The final two rounds of singles did not compete due to Thomas forfeiting. 

The Husson women's tennis team will host Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Friday, April 23rd for a match at 3:00 pm.
