Husson Women's Tennis Outscores USM, 8-1

BANGOR, Maine - The Eagles extended their winning streak to four matches, as they defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies, 8-1, on Thursday. The Huskies brought their 'A' game pushing the Eagles to be better and fight for several match points. 

All three doubles teams picked up wins on the afternoon, as the sophomore duo of Ashley Matlock and Nicci Munroe swept the Huskies' Regina Harmon and Tracy Edwards, 8-0. Paired as the #1 doubles, Hannah Malinen and Natalie Tilton soared an 8-2 victory over Samantha Harden and Emma Nasif, while Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell battled to an 8-6 victory over Southern Maine's Gabby Brooks and Ciara Richards.

Husson continued to outscore USM through singles action, as Julia O'Leary, Tilton, Munroe and Bell picked up straight-set victories for the Eagles. Playing as the #3 singles, Malinen took Regina Harmon to three sets, eventually prevailing over the Husky 6-0, 2-6, 10-6. Harden picked up the lone victory for Southern Maine, edging out Matlock 6-1, 6-2 in #1 singles action. 

The Eagles will continue their homestand on Saturday, September 21st as they host Northern Vermont University-Lyndon to open up North Atlantic Conference play beginning at 12:00pm.
