Box Score HAMPDEN, Maine - Husson remained undefeated in its inaugural season Sunday following an 8-1 North Eastern Athetic Conference (NEAC) East Division victory over Lyndon State (Vt.) at the Armstrong Tennis Center.
"Our team is mentally and physically fit," Husson coach Josh Warren said. "We jumped out of the gate with high energy in the doubles. The momentum was carried through until the last singles match. Our cohesiveness and positive attitudes are making the difference."
Meridith Blessard gave Husson (4-0, 3-0 NEAC) a victory in No. 1 singles after a 6-0 and 6-0 win over Christina Boyce. Katie Pratt defeated Olivia Bernard 6-4 and 6-2 on the No. 3 line. Kelsey Pelletier dropped Alexa Richard on the four-line 6-2 and 6-1. Sarah Smith dropped Carina Alden 6-4 and 6-1 in No. 5 singles. Elizabeth Adley took out Greta Larson 6-1 and 6-0 on the No. 6 line.
The lone win for Lyndon State (1-5, 0-3 NEAC) came on the No. 2 line when Nichole Jones defeated Charlotte Bednarz 7-5 and 6-4.
Blessard and Pratt defeated Boyce and Bernard 8-0 in No. 1 doubles. Bednarz and Smith dropped Jones and Alden 8-3 on the two-line. Pelletier and Adley dispatched Richard and Alexandria Maynard 8-2 in No. 3 doubles.
Husson travels to Green Mountain (Vt.) on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. ET.
