BANGOR, Maine - Husson defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) 6-3 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference East (NEAC East) on Sunday at Bangor High School tennis courts.

MCLA's (6-6, 3-4 NEAC-East) Emily Deaso defeated Meridith Blessard in No. 1 singles 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 and Husson's (6-2, 5-2 NEAC East) Katie Pratt dropped Taylor Turner 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. Charlotte Bednarz lost to Mariza Sfakianaki on the three-line 6-4, 2-6 and 2-6. Sarah Smith dispatched Anna Despart in No. 4 singles 6-0 and 6-0. Kelsey Pelletier defeated Rebecca Waterhouse in No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-1. Elizabeth Adley took care of Nang Kylie Dumas on the six-line 6-1 and 6-0.

Pratt and Blessard lost to Deaso and Sfakianaki  8-3 in No. 1 doubles. Bednarz and Smith dropped Turner and Gauthier on the two-line 8-2. Adley and Pelletier took care of Waterhouse and Despart 9-7.

"Our attitudes and energy were excellent, and we fought until the very last point in singles," Husson coach Josh Warren said. "We are a team that is willing to work hard for something great."

Husson travels to Southern Maine on Wednesday, Oct 7. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
