Catherine Allen enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Husson women's tennis team in 2017-18.
She is a native St. Louisan who has been playing competitive tennis since age 11. Starting her tennis career as a ball girl for the World Team Tennis, St. Louis Aces, Allen played the Missouri Valley Junior Circuit finishing top 1000 in the nation.
Allen played high school tennis at Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day school from 2004-2007. Reaching state all four years, she captained her Junior and Senior year, leading her team to a State Championship in 2007. Allen and her doubles partner took third place in both 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Allen lettered four years at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. Her team finished second in the NCAA DIII National Championships in 2008 and the team returned to Nationals again, captained by Allen, in 2011. Allen graduated with a BA in geology and a minor in environmental science in 2011.
Allen currently enjoys playing on a woman's 4.5 USTA league and a mixed doubles 9.0 league, which reached Sectionals in 2017.
Off of the court, Allen enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with her husband, cat, and dog.
