Frank Fazzino comes to Husson after being the Assistant Coach for Throws and Strength & Conditioning at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania from 2015-2017. While at Mansfield, Frank had a great deal of success with the throws group; with most athletes obtaining lifetime personal bests in their respective events. Frank coached several conference qualifiers, as well as All- Conference and All-Atlantic Region athletes in the Javelin and Shot Put. Most notably, Frank had two athletes (Kelsey Carlsen and Hunter Watkins) compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the Javelin in back to back years; 2016 and 2017. Both athletes also received USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors. In 2017, Freshman Hunter Watkins had several achievements throughout the season. Hunter ended the 2017 season earning All-Conference (PSAC), All-Atlantic Region, All-East (placing 2nd at the IC4A Championships held at Princeton in a mostly Division 1 field), and earned 2nd Team All-American honors placing 12th at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hunter also qualified for the USA Junior National Championships. Both of those athletes also went on to be named Mansfield University Spring Athletes of the Year, with Hunter also being voted as the 2017 PSAC Outdoor Freshman Athlete of the Year.
Prior to arriving at Mansfield, Frank was the Head Track and Field Coach at Irvington High School from 2010-2014. While at Irvington, his teams had several notable achievements with the girls’ team winning the League Championships 6 times, and the boys team winning 4 times between the Indoor and Outdoor seasons. Frank also had Westchester County Champions in the Long Jump, High Jump, and 4 x 400. Additionally, he had Section 1 Class B Champions in the High Jump, Triple Jump, and 4 x 400, as well as NY State Qualifying Athletes in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, 200m, 400m, and 4 x 400m. At the NY State Championships, Frank’s 4 x 400m relay team placed 2nd in D2 and 8th overall in the Federation, a 4th place finisher in the Triple Jump, and 5th place finishers in the 400m and High Jump. Finally, Frank coached National Qualifying athletes in the 4 x 400, 4 x 800, High Jump and Triple Jump.
Frank earned his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Prior to that, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications & Rhetoric, with a minor in Business Administration from SUNY University at Albany in 2009. While at Division I Albany, Frank competed in the Shot Put, where he earned All-America East honors in the Shot Put where he ranks in the Top 10 in school history. While at Albany, his team won 8 America East Conference team titles, and also won an IC4A Championship title.
Frank currently holds a USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning Coach Advanced Certification (2016), as well as a USTFCCCA Track & Field Technical Coaching Certification (2014.) Frank also obtained a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as becoming a Weight Room Safety Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach from Bigger, Faster, Stronger in 2013.
